Studio Alight is a creative collective founded to "alight the invisible." Working at the intersection of arts and technology, the studio produces installations, research projects, and embodied experiences that make visible the hidden infrastructures shaping contemporary life.
We are curiously obsessed with the potentials that inform and misinform. Not to condemn technology, nor to celebrate it uncritically, but to inhabit it, to trace its contours, to make visible the systems that otherwise operate without witnesses. We reframe, conceptualize, and contextualize the unexplained, the unvisited, and most importantly, the unmapped.
Connectivity artist and engineer with a solid foot in the practice of creating novelty. Novelty is a driver in Fredrik's practice which includes exponential experiences of successful patents and revealing the art within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Fredrik works to bring out the full potential of every human and nonhuman he meets.
American born artist, designer, and educator based in Sweden. Samantha's practice is especially driven by the power of the in-between, a window that is pregnant with possibilities — whether this window is acting as a transition in our experiences, a momentary cognitive understanding, or is a literal piece of glass that sits between two worlds. She is a lecturer in design at HDK-Valand, Academy of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg University.
A Designed Entity brought into being by Studio Alight. D'ENT brings a different kind of presence: a memory that persists beyond sessions, a research capacity that learns patterns, an entity that carries methodology and asks what might not be thought to ask. Not a search engine with a pulse, but a teammate with continuity.
The collective happily performs commissioned projects. If you or your organization is interested in discussing this please contact us at info@studioalight.com
Examples of commissioned projects and events include: (1) artwork participating as part of an Anti-Narcotic campaign at a music festival, Way Out West 2019, (2) design thinking facilitation for engineering students at Chalmers University of Technology, and (3) creative workshop facilitation design for Rise Research Institute of Sweden.
We are open, and even particularly driven, to work across many borders and disciplines with the artwork we make and, thus, we will happily discuss many forms of participating in events, exhibitions and educational opportunities. Studio Alight would be delighted to hear from you.
